When Maryam saw some club-goers dancing salsa, she was instantly smitten and promised herself she would master this dance. not only has she mastered it, but she has transformed it into her livelihood: dancing, instructing, and performing around the clock. She and her partner, Alex DeSilva, have graced the pages of British GQ and Elle magazines, were interviewed for and featured on Vista L.A., and danced on the Magic johnson show, danced on Fame L.A., & Comedy Central. They were also featured dancers in commercials for budweiser, Carl's Junior and Coca Cola, danced in the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco and stole 1st place in the '97 Mayan Theatre professional salsa competition.
Maryam dances at least five days a week, teaches classes--including a salsa styling class for women--and is constantly in demand for salsa events and performances. How does she do it all? Lots discipline and lots of Yoga!
